Suddenly That’s So Raven makes even MORE sense

Wait, why is this such a big deal? Why does it make “That’s So Raven” so much more awesome - because she’s a lesbian? Isn’t that some sort of enjoying the “token” friend, where having diversity makes the person better? I don’t think that’s a good standard to hold someone as “awesome”. Either you like Raven Simone for her work, or you don’t. Her sexual orientation shouldn’t affect your perception of her, because whatever she believes/feels, is natural. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s stupid to favor someone more based on some quality they have always had, but didn’t feel the need to share with the public.

Maybe I’m off base, but it’s just how I feel.

Feminist Frequency - Tropes vs. Women: #1 The Manic Pixie Dream Girl

The Manic Pixie Dream Girl Trope is pretty the bane of my existence. Both as a guy, and as a writer. It’s so much easier for me to write main-character girls as MPDG because it takes out a lot of work in character development, and can make for a simpler story.

And because there are so many times in my life where I see people this way. Of course, I always come to the realization that they aren’t some “muse” waiting for me, but real people with their own personalities. But I still often find that I’m more attracted to the ideal persona I’ve concocted for them than their actual being.

That whole “reality vs. expectations” thing. (That’s also why I give 500 Days of Summer some leeway for their writing - at the end of the movie, they slightly debunk the trope)

Also, I’m not great at getting into the mind of a girl, so whatever I have them do always feel artificial anyway. And also writing dialogue. UGGGHHH, dialogue.
